Haliburton 100 miler

So, I am no longer a 100 mile Virgin.
On September the 10th & 11th. I ran more than 100 miles in 28:24:20.
I would highly recommend this run to anyone as their first 100.
It is not the hardest in terms of elevation gain but it is very well aided and the double out and back format has a lot of advantages.
I managed to get lost a couple of times but all in all, knowing that at the 75 mile mark I would only have half the night and and 10 hours to finish it in, I was happy to walk stagger and run home, cold wet from my own sweat and totally drained of any kind of energy reserve. Running like an automaton with the occasional 30 second walk break I got in within the time frame of 30 hours, and now I know what not to do next time to make my life a whole lot less edgie!
The picture was taken at the start.

hi Jackal,

congrats on an impressive performance. you must get into such a zone that it must feel like a trance at that distance. My last marathon was over 2 years ago and I've been scared of the distance ever since. I have a lot of respect for you ultra freaks. keep on keep'n on.

Stumbled across your blog looking for reviews of Haliburton. I'm getting set for this to be my first 100 mile attempt next week. Any advice? I'm a little nervous about the hills...
